Floral Water are also known as Hydrosols or Distillate Water. Hydrosols are like essential oils but in far less of a concentration. When a distiller brews plant material with water in a large cooker the steam fills the pot and, as it rises, it causes the glands of the plants to burst and release the oils and essence of the plant into the steam. The fragrant water that was steamed with the original plant material  is the hydrosol, or floral water. It is the water that remains in the still after distilling an Essential Oil. This Hydrosol offers therapeutic benefits and is also used for aromatherapy. Many plants are actually distilled for the actual Hydrosol instead of the Essential Oil. Hydrosols are used to create facial toners and other skin care products. They can be added to the bath, used as cologne or body spray (great for Hot Flashes), to freshen linens and towels and as air fresheners.
